Sydney Desalination Plant
This project involved general fitout and remedial building works to the administrative building, workshops and warehouse.
Additional works including stripping and replacing the existing 12,000m2 Alspan Aluminium roofing from the circular drinking water tank and pretreatment buildings, as well as reinstallation of 9,000m2 of Klip-Lok roof sheeting and 3,000m2 of Vrib Wall Cladding on associated buildings.
Challenges throughout this project included how to strip, make safe, and replace massive amounts of roof sheeting destroyed by a tornado, whilst protecting sensitive desalination equipment.
Access to every building was difficult and needed to be obtained through a mass of equipment. Gartner Rose utilised a combination of scaffold, edge protection, boom lifts, scissor lifts, rope access and even crane boxes to safely strip and replace tens of thousands of square metres of roof.
